Duties:
|
The treasurer is required to have knowledge of nonprofit accounting practices, nonprofit tax laws and fiscal record keeping. The treasurer is knowledgeable about committee management and rules for conducting board meetings.

Skills Expected:
|
• Experience working with financial information, controls and budgets
• Be impartial and able to clearly articulate financial information, procedures, processes and explain why they matter (especially to other Board members)
• Have a financial qualification or relevant accounting/bookkeeping experience to take overall control of the association’s finances, financial statements, budget, Tax and Accounting function for not-for-profit organizations
• Ability to ensure financial decisions are made and followed-up. Be available for ad hoc advice
• Good financial analysis skills and the ability to communicate clearly.
• Use email, text as a manner of correspondence with other directors
• Ensure all regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met on time.
• Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external stakeholders, sponsors and community.
Knowledge and experience of fundraising finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organizations will be a distinct advantage but not essential.Proficient writing and speaking skills in English language. Spanish and /or Portuguese skills will be an asset.
